Gavin Chase Salley!

Two long days after my due date I finally went into labor! I started having contractions at about 2:20am on Sunday Oct. 20th. They woke me up in the middle of the night but at first I thought it was nothing, didn't want to get my hopes up yet, so I waited to wake up Paul for a few more contractions. We timed them together for a half hour or so then called Jean so she could drive up and stay with Kaden at the house while we went to the hospital. We got all ready and packed, timed more contractions, and called the hospital and were sent to Sky Ridge. We got there at about 5am and got checked in, I was dialated to a 5 so I asked for my epidural right away. My parents and Jean got there not too long after because with Kaden I had gone really fast from a 5 to a 10. Unfortunately this time around took a little longer. So everyone went and had breakfast, I tried to rest, but was too excited and anxious so it didn't really work. Once I finally got to a 10 they realized that baby boy was posterior, facing up instead of down, so they wanted me to sit in different positions to try and get him to turn on his own. This was miserable since I was at a 10 and felt like I needed to push but my mom and Paul were good support and gave good encouragement. They finally turned little boy and I was ready to push! I thought this 2nd one would just slide right out and I would be a pro this time around, but not the case...it was surprising what you forget between the first and second. But after a long time pushing it was all worth it.

GAVIN CHASE SALLEY was born at 2:25pm October 20th. He weighed 8lbs. 11.5oz. and was 21in. long! A bigger boy than I thought he'd be. He was perfect! And had dark hair! I was so surprised after Kaden being completely bald and then light headed.
Paul got to cut the cord and I got to enjoy my first time holding my sweet baby Gavin.

Proud daddy holding Gavin for the fist time
Our whole hospital stay people commented on how big he was, but he looked pretty tiny to me.

Randi brought Kaden to see him just a couple hours later, sporting his big brother shirt. He was so excited to come to the hospital. He even brought Gavin a baby boy balloon!

He was so excited to see Gavin for the first time, he seemed to actually understand this was the baby that had been in mom's tummy all this time and was so happy to finally get to see him. He jumped around and flapped and screamed. He was so careful holding him and kissing his head. He is going to be the best big brother ever!

First picture of our family of 4!

Kaden and I had a picnic in my bed, good thing we left soon after cause a lot of crumbs were left :)
Kaden brought Gavin a little blue elephant he had picked out himself. So cute!

My 2 boys! I am one blessed mama. I love these 2 so much!
All dressed and ready to go home! Everyone at the hospital thought he was so cute in his pumpkin outfit!

It was still a little strange to be able to just leave the hospital after they've been checking on you constantly. We left the hospital on Monday evening, we were ready to get home to Kaden and get a good night's sleep in our own bed, good thing we had mom to stay with us and take care of us there.
We love this new little sweet edition to our family, we couldn't be happier with our 2 boys, they are going to be such great buddies. We love you Gavin Chase, so grateful we have you in our family now, we are so excited to just love on you and snuggle you all day long!

Family Walk

We decided to get out of the house and go for a walk last night for a breath of fresh air and some much needed exercise. So we grabbed Yolanda's tacos first, so delicious! Then we walked along the Plum Creek Trail. Kaden had a blast, we walked down by Festival Park and found a tunnel with water he could throw rocks into, heaven for this little boy.

I spotted a crawdad and of course Paul had to catch it to show Kaden. At first Kaden was a little unsure but then he was finding grass for the crawdad to pinch and hold and having a great time.

As we were walking back this snake jumped out of nowhere at me and tried to attack! Paul wanted to pick it up and show Kaden but it turned out to be a violent little snake so they just chased it for a bit and watched it slither. Kaden loved it! He also spent a lot of time chasing all the rabbits. All in all it turned out to be quite the nature walk for our family, so nice to get out and about and enjoy some fresh fall air, before it gets too cold.

Kaden Summer PhotoShoot

Thank you Jaclyn Davis Photography for perfectly capturing our sweet Kaden and his goofy personality! We LOVE these pics and will treasure them forever!

KADEN!!!
  • Smart, he knows his colors, how to count to 10, some shapes, he knows every character on Toy Story, he can say anything he wants and can usually be understood.
  • His favorite places to go are: Red Robin, Home Depot, Cabela's, Target, Smart Cow, and the mall to throw pennies in the water.
  • He has an incredible memory for his age, he still talks about our vacation to Disney Land (in great detail), knows the names of all of his great grandmas and grandpas and can remember different times we have visited and never forgets when you tell him you are going to do something.
  • So Loving. He has a huge heart, he's always asking, "you ok mama?" He knows when someone is sad or really happy. He never wants to disappoint Paul or I, he aims to please always. He almost never has a time out, he just never needs it, he always tries to be so good.
  • His favorite songs are: twinkle twinkle, the family song, the tikki room, fireworks (katy perry), fireflies (owl city), and Cruise (Georgia Lines) He wants to listen to them every time we are in the car.
I never knew I could love someone like I love Kaden, he is so amazing, being a mom has been the absolute best thing in my whole life. The joy that it brings is just unimaginable unless experienced. And with Kaden he just makes it so easy to love and serve and be with 24/7. I never seem to get sick of him, he is my best little buddy for anything and everything I am doing. I feel so blessed to be his mom and get to have him with me all the time. We Love you Kaden Ryan!

Potty Training!

I decided I would try potty training before baby got here just to see how it went. And he has done great, it took about a week for him to get it down but then he just took off and has loved it. He tells strangers all the time, No more diapers! and also pee pee on the potty! He is so proud. It helps having awesome unders like Buzz and Woody!

He and Ella are the best of friends, it's true what they say, "there is something about a boy and his dog." They play together all day long, every now and then with Ella getting bigger she will plow into Kaden and knock him down but I definitely think Ella gets the short end of the stick on abuse from Kaden. Good thing she is tough and can handle it :)

We LOVE Summer!!!

Summer is absolutely the BEST! We got a zoo pass this year so Kaden and I spent a lot of time looking at animals at the Denver Zoo. He rode the 4-wheeler and lawn mower with PaPa, played in the blow up pool, ran through the sprinkler, ate lots and lots of otter pops, and so much more.

He also tried out his new Buzz 4-wheeler which he is a pro at and the mini cooper that grandma and grandpa got for their house! With a little help from daddy.

Paul and I got to go on a little getaway to Glenwood Springs while Kaden spent a couple days with grandma and grandpa. It was our babymoon and it was so enjoyed. We played miniature golf, ate good food, walked the little town, did the hot springs, and just genuinely relaxed and enjoyed being just the 2 of us for a few days. Thanks mom and dad!

Kaden loves the big big slide, he is a pro!

Hanging at the Grange pool with his Buzz towel.

He also had fun catching a toad with daddy and watching it hop and hop to get out! Oh little boys are so great!
